Urban design proposals for a mixed use development in Newbury’s town centre. The concept is based on a sinuous spine moving through the space. As a design motif, the spine links the various public spaces, and is able to contract and expand, with or without water, as it progresses through the public realm. In the main public space a sculptural feature provides a focal point, drawing pedestrians up from the railway station into the heart of the town centre.
