Stour Valley Community School is currently going through the transition and expansion from a Middle School to a Free School with up to 500 pupils. Little of the external building changes with the concentration of alterations taking place internally. The landscape therefore plays an increased role in aiding the school in ‘rebranding’ with particular emphasis on the school's entrance. The new entrance plaza allows students to be dropped off safely, whilst also creating a welcoming and eye catching space. A secluded courtyard is located at the rear of the building where the changes of gradients have been used to create informal seating that could double as an external performance space.
